Lots going on!

It is always exciting to have a full church and we have almost achieved this twice in the past month. The first occasion was a quadruple baptism, with Amelia and Freddie from one family and Jack and Eloise from another Ann certainly had her hands full at the font! We hope to see tem and their parents with us again soon.
The second occasion was the School Harvest Festival. With an increased number of pupils at the school and more parents than usual, we had a wonderful service. With the gifts from the children and from the church’s Harvest Festival the week before, we were able to take two car-loads of food to the Food Bank in Melksham, where it could be distributed to those in need. Our thanks are very much due to Janet and her team of flower arrangers for decorating the church so beautifully.
From what has happened, to what is going to happen! We have had to change the date of our next Quiz to Saturday, December 5th. This is because of the lack of availability of the Village Hall. Teams, please send your names in to Annette (TN 782610). The cost is £6 per person to include a ploughman’s supper. Please bring your own liquid sustenance. There will be the usual major vinous prizes and a raffle.
Earlier that day, we will be holding a Coffee Morning at 146 The Street, thanks to the hospitality of John and Virginia Childe.
We have a new landlord at The Bell on the Common. One of his first re-quests is to hold a Carols Evening there. Watch this space for further details. On a less happy note, many will have noticed cracks developing in the retaining wall of the churchyard. Fortunately, the financial responsibility for repairing this does not lie with us but with the County Council. We fear the repairs may take some time as a faculty from the Diocese will have to be obtained before restorative work can begin.
